ABSTRACT

Technopreneurship is a simple entrepreneurship in a technology intensive context. It is a process of merging technology prowess and entrepreneurial talent and skills. The purpose of this paper was to find out the attitude of Educational Stakeholders towards challenges confronting Technopreneurship, Visual Art Education and Training (TVAET) in the South West Geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The qualitative research method with Questionnaire and interview guide helped to examine the nature and scope of Visual Art education in Nigeria as well as the roles it plays in creating jobs for unemployed Nigerians and to minimize poverty. The stratified random sampling method was used in sampling out the various subjects. These comprised stakeholders such as parents, teachers, employers, government and private institutional heads, alumna and, students of second cycle institutions were selected for the study. These groups were chosen because they would provide relevant information needed for this paper. Technopreneurship, Visual Art Education and Training in the South West Geopolitical zones of Nigeria faces a lot of challenges. This paper revealed that Visual Art Education institutions in Nigeria are inadequate. This has resulted in large class size in the few existing Visual Art Education Institutions. The large class sizes do not match with the supply and provision of training resources. This does not allow the instructor to attract and sustain the attention of all students during demonstration lessons. Also, the infrastructure and training facilities of the institutions technologically are in deplorable state resulting in outdated training content. This paper recommended Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in charge of Visual Art Education and Training to formulate policies that will make VAET meet international standard so that graduates of VAET also meet the demands of international labour market.
